Wireless Nation — Where Should I Start?

If I could write a book, it would be the number one bestseller about your service. But here’s the nutshell of my experience:

I’ve been with Wireless Nation for just over a month now, and I must say I’ve never come across a company that not only provides a reliable internet connection but also offers outstanding customer service.

What really stands out is that most companies outsource their customer service offshore to cut costs, but knowing that Wireless Nation is based in Takapuna, Auckland, really motivates me to support a local business.

Some people might find the prices slightly higher than the big telcos, especially when it comes to purchasing your own modem for wireless use. But honestly, it’s worth it! The modem’s portability is a game-changer — you can take it with you on long drives or use it wherever you go. That kind of flexibility makes the cost completely justifiable.

As a parent, one of the biggest advantages is the ability to turn off the modem or take it with me to work when my son gets carried away with gaming. That level of control is a huge benefit for me. Plus, the modem comes with built-in security controls through a simple app, allowing you to monitor all internet activity — a major win for parents!

As a Pacific Islander, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Wireless Nation to my Pacific community. It’s not just about great connectivity — it’s about having control, security, and supporting a local business.

Looking forward to seeing more exciting plans from Wireless Nation in the future!

GOD BLESS !

very good service works well at home and when we are traveling in our motor home

For last few years we have relied on phone data and campsite wifi when were away in our caravan. We were forever topping up the data which was costly and the campsite wifi was slow and unreliable. Decided that Wireless Nation would be the way to go this year and absolutely wrapped we made the change. The whole setup from the communication to setting up the router has been faultless. We also invested in a smart TV and have been using this all the time to watch normal free channels as well as Netflix and Prime. Not once has there been any throttling which has disrupted coverage. Loving it.
Kathleen Smith
Wireless Nation are great. Always someone on the end of the phone to answer queries (if you have any)
I've had their mobile modem in my motorhome for a couple of months. It's compact, connects quickly and efficiently. Thoroughly recommended.

NZMCA Data Modem

Equipment

Powerful 4G Modem (required)

There’s an investment of $299 (already discounted for NZMCA members) for a powerful 4G Modem. This provides home-grade internet on the road and reaches further than mobile phone reception.

NZMCA Portable WiFi requires a Wireless Nation supplied modem to operate on the network.

12-24V DC Surge Protection Adaptor (optional)

You can purchase a 12-24V DC Surge Protection Adaptor for $69.90 during signup, meaning the modem can run off 12-24V and keep the modem safe from voltage spikes.  Please note: the modem includes a 230/240V wall plug for mains power.

Shipping and Handling: $16.95.

Full Speed Data means we do not throttle at Wireless Nation. The average peak hour speed is 38Mbps download, and 16Mbps upload. Actual speeds may be faster or slower, depending on your distance to the nearest tower, your location, and how many people are using that same tower simultaneously. Speeds are from the Commerce Commission’s Measuring Broadband New Zealand (MBNZ) Sept 2024 report.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I run the modem off 12-24V?
Yes, the modem can run off 12-24V.  It comes with a 230/240V to 12-24V wall plug for mains power. If you want to run the modem off your battery/cigarette lighter plug we recommend you buy our 12-24V Adapter add-on during signup — this will keep the modem safe from voltage spikes.

Existing customers who didn’t purchase a 12-24V adapter during signup can order one here.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
Yes, you can. Your plan change will take effect in the following calendar month. You can request a plan change by emailing accounts@wirelessnation.net.

NB: some customers may require a new SIM card depending on which plan is selected.

What about my home security system when I'm on the road?
We’ve designed a solution specifically for this. It’s a low-data plan used as a secondary connection. This means you can travel using your primary connection (NZMCA Data) and leave the home security modem at home to power your security systems. You can find out more here.
How much power does the modem use?
Maximum power: 12V-2A; 24 Whr

Nominal power: 12V-0.5A; 6Whr

What happens when I run out of full speed data?

Your data will run at full speed until you hit your data cap, after which your connection will continue to run at a maximum of up to 1.2Mbps until the end of the month at no extra charge.

You can also upgrade your plan (if a higher plan is available at your address) which will take effect in the following month.

Can I add a Home Phone line?
Yes, you can add a home phone line during online signup. You can find the pricing and features here.
P.S. We recommend one of our awesome mobile phone plans which comes with free standard calling to NZ/AU — also available to add during online signup.
Does it work anywhere in NZ?

We use over 1,750 towers which cover 99% of the population or, in other words, most places where people live, work and commonly travel. You must be in 4G coverage to get NZMCA Data. You can check coverage by going to: wirelessnation.co.nz/coverage, and selecting the appropriate tabs.

Disclaimers
  • Factors such as the performance of your modem, the distance you are from a cell tower, the network capability, the overall use of that cell tower by other customers, the performance and age of the devices you are using, and your in-home WiFi setup, can impact the speeds experienced.
  • NZMCA Data is a best efforts residential service, not to be used for business purposes.
  • You’ll need to be in 4G coverage for the broadband to work.
  • It can take up to 3 hours for your data to renew from midnight on the 1st of every month — this is due to the large number of connections that need to get processed through the system.
  • Standard Wireless Nation terms and conditions apply.
