Frequently Asked Questions

Can I put my WiFi connection on hold?

While many members use the connection in their homes as well, you can put the connection on hold and only pay for the months you require. We’ll just need 5 working days’ notice when you wish to put it on hold (after one-month minimum activation).

Reactivation: Reactivation is also quick — between 3-5 working days.

You can request to put your connection on hold or reactivate your connection via emailing accounts@wirelessnation.net.

Can I run the modem off 12-24V?

You can purchase a 12-24V adapter for $69.90 during signup, meaning the modem can run off 12-24V and keep the modem safe from voltage spikes.  Please note: the modem includes a 230/240V to 12-24V wall plug for mains power.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?

Yes, you can. Your plan change will take effect in the following calendar month. You can request a plan change by emailing accounts@wirelessnation.net.

NB: some customers may require a new SIM card depending on which plan is selected. 

 

How much power does the modem use?

Maximum power: 12V-2A; 24 Whr

Nominal power: 12V-0.5A; 6Whr

Can I add a Home Phone line?
Yes, you can add a home phone line during online signup. You can find the pricing and features here.

Does it work anywhere in NZ?

We use over 1,750 towers which cover 99% of the population or, in other words, most places where people live, work and commonly travel. You must be in 4G coverage to get NZMCA Data. You can check coverage by going to: wirelessnation.co.nz/coverage, and selecting the appropriate tabs.

Can I keep my existing mobile number?

Yes, you can keep your existing mobile number for free! During signup, you will be asked to provide some information regarding your current mobile plan such as existing number, existing provider, existing provider account number etc. so please have this information ready to go.

If you want to keep your existing number, please don’t disconnect with your old provider until we have successfully ported your number over, otherwise you may lose your number.

If you want a brand new mobile number, we can provide you a randomly chosen mobile number.

What happens when I run out of data?

If you run out of data on the 2GB or 10GB plan, a 1GB data pack will be added automatically, and the price is $14.95. This happens each time you run out of data during the month.

You will receive email notifications at 80% and 100% usage. If you do not wish for an automatic top-up to be added please switch off mobile data on your handset prior to reaching your data limit.

You can request plan changes for a future month via creating a request within your MyHub account.

Do you do prepay?

All our mobile plans are on a monthly account. Base plan charges are due at the beginning of the month, usage charges are billed in arrears This makes for simple billing if you have a broadband connection with us too. 

Can I use my my phone as a Hotspot?

Yes, you can hotspot or tether for free on all our monthly mobile phone plans!

What mobile phone network do use?

We utilise the Spark network to provide our mobile phone services to you.

Other calling/sms charges and full rate card

You can view our full mobile rate card here for charges that may apply for calling special numbers, send SMS to special SMS services, calling numbers overseas or satellite phones.

How do I check my voicemail?

The number to check or setup your voicemail is 083210 or if calling from overseas +6483203000 (standard roaming call charges apply)

How do I check my usage?

To check usage, head over to your MyHub account.

Click on ‘Usage’ and then ‘Voice’. If you have several voice services, you will first see a combination of usage of all voice services. You can select from a drop down to see a specific mobile phone service’s usage.

We send you usage notifications at 80% and 100%. Please note, it may take up to an hour to show recent usage in your MyHub account.

Can I use my mobile service overseas (Roaming)?

Roaming is turned off by default to protect you from huge unexpected bills. It is always cheaper to get a local sim card when visiting different countries.

If you would like roaming enabled then please call us so we can offer roaming packs & switch on roaming for your connection. Roaming charges and roaming packs are listed in our mobile rate card.

Please note:

  • Roaming packs cannot be canceled or refunded after purchase. Roaming Packs can be added up to 10 months in advance.
  • A roaming pack will be activated once your device connects to the roaming pack’s country mobile network. It has a validity of 14 days.
  • Roaming packs do not cover in-flight or while you are on cruise ships, only on land in the roaming available countries.
  • If you have requested and added more than 1 roaming pack but exhausted your mins/SMS/data on the 1st roaming pack before the 14th day then,  the 2nd roaming pack will be activated for you.
  • Usage records can take up to 90 minutes or longer for special numbers/texts, or when roaming to show in MyHub.
