Does My Portable Modem Work on 12V or Need an Adapter?

< Back

Yes, your portable modem can run on both 12V and 24V power systems. How you plug it in depends on where you are using it:

Using it at Home or at a Camp Site (Mains Power)

  • What to use: Use the standard 230V/240V wall plug that comes included in your modem box.
  • Do I need an extra adapter? No. Simply plug it into any standard household electrical wall socket.

Using it in a Motorhome, Caravan, or Boat (Battery)

  • What to use: If you want to run the modem directly off your vehicle’s house battery or cigarette lighter socket, we strongly recommend using our official 12-24V DC Surge Protection Adapter.
  • Why do I need it? Vehicle batteries naturally fluctuate in power (especially when engines start or solar chargers kick in). Our custom adapter keeps your modem completely safe from these sudden voltage spikes.
