We live in a part of the Sounds where there is no fibre and wireless can be somewhat intermittent! I have been reluctant to move to a satellite provider when Wireless nation have good for some years. So I contacted Wireless nation and their response was immediate. They suggested I try a new receiver which arrived here within two days plus the wire and installation details. Then a new, superior modem arrived.Not only that, but I received a phone call from an incredibly patient and helpful technician who walked me through the setup process and who stayed on the line til everything was working. There’s an investment of $329 for a powerful 4G Modem. This provides home-grade internet on the road and reaches further than mobile phone reception.

12-24v Adapter (optional)

You can purchase a 12-24V adapter for $69.90 during signup, meaning the modem can run off 12-24V and keep the modem safe from voltage spikes.  Please note: the modem includes a 230/240V wall plug for mains power.

Full Speed Data means we do not throttle at Wireless Nation. The average peak hour speed is 38Mbps download, and 16Mbps upload. Actual speeds may be faster or slower, depending on your distance to the nearest tower, your location, and how many people are using that same tower simultaneously. Speeds are from the Commerce Commission’s Measuring Broadband New Zealand (MBNZ) Sept 2024 report.

Modem and Setup

There’s an investment of $329 for a powerful 4G-enabled Modem.

This comes with an open term meaning we’ll just need 5 working days’ notice when you wish to put it on hold (after one-month minimum activation).

Shipping and handling: $16.95.

Can I use it anywhere in NZ?

There are 1,750+ cell towers located around the country to connect to and you must be in coverage for Portable WiFi to work. You can check coverage by going to: wirelessnation.co.nz/coverage, and following the prompts.

Speeds

Both plans are suitable for dual HD streaming simultaneously and support WiFi sharing with multiple devices for Googling, Emails, Facebook, Spotify, YouTube etc.

300GB plan: 300GB full-speed data then speeds will reduce to a maximum of 1.2 Mbps once 300GB has been reached.

Can I add a home phone line?
Yes, you can add a home phone line during online signup. You can find the pricing and features here.

Factors such as the performance of your modem, the distance you are from a cell tower, the network capability, the overall use of that cell tower by other customers, the performance and age of the devices you are using, and your in-home WiFi setup, can impact the speeds experienced.

This is a best efforts residential service and is not to be used for re-sale.

It can take up to 3 hours for your data to renew from midnight on the 1st of every month — this is due to the large number of connections that need to get processed through the system.
