Fibre speed estimates are based on national peak-time averages (MBNZ June 2024) using a direct Ethernet connection from your modem to your device. Actual speeds may vary depending on your location, device age, and in-home WiFi setup. For Portable WiFi, average peak-hour speeds are 38Mbps download and 16Mbps upload (MBNZ Sept 2024). These can also vary depending on your distance to the nearest tower, your location, and how many people are using that tower at the same time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Already have a Wireless Nation Portable WiFi modem?

If you already own a Wireless Nation Portable WiFi modem, great! Call us to join the Home & Away Bundle. The Home Fibre modem is included at no extra cost. You’ll only pay $16.95 for shipping and handling, and the $299 setup fee will be waived.

Is there a contract?

The NZMCA Home & Away Bundle requires a 12-month contract, ensuring that both your Home Fibre Saver and Portable WiFi services remain active all year round, simultaneously.

The early exit fee is 1/12 of $149 for every remaining month on a 12-month contract, plus the value of any promotion offered during signup. E.g. If you cancel with 5 months remaining on your contract, the early exit fee will be $62.08 (this is 5/12 of $149.)

Thinking about your data needs?

The Home & Away Bundle offers flexibility. We’re here to help you adjust it to your needs — just call us.

  • Unlimited Portable WiFi is available for an additional $30/month, as needed.
  • Upgrade to NZMCA Home Fibre Boost for an extra $20/month.

Upgrades and downgrades require 5 days notice, and are effective from the first day of the next month for a minimum of 1 month.

Not sure what connection is right for you?

The Home and Away Bundle is best suited for the Weekend Wanderer: You’re based at home but love hitting the road for weekend trips and holiday adventures, or you leave for extended periods but leave your home in the care of house-sitters, family or flatmates.

What do I need to know about rollover data?

You get 20GB of Portable WiFi data each month, and any unused data will roll over for up to three (3) months.

We’ll always use your oldest data first, so nothing goes to waste. Just a heads up: if you change your plan, your rollover balance will reset to zero. That’s because the unlimited Portable WiFi plan doesn’t need rollover data.

Want to check your rollover balance? Simply log into your MyHub account. We’re working on bringing this feature to our app soon!

Can I run the Portable WiFi modem off 12-24V?

Yes, the Portable WiFi modem can run off 12-24V.  It comes with a 230/240V to 12-24V wall plug for mains power. If you want to run the modem off your battery/cigarette lighter plug we recommend you buy our 12-24V Adapter add-on during signup — this will keep the modem safe from voltage spikes.

Existing customers who didn’t purchase a 12-24V adapter during signup can order one here.

Disclaimers
  • Factors such as the performance of your modem, the distance you are from a cell tower, the network capability, the overall use of that cell tower by other customers, the performance and age of the devices you are using, and your in-home WiFi setup, can impact the speeds experienced.
  • NZMCA Portable WiFi and NZMCA Home Fibre are best-effort residential services, not to be used for business purposes.
  • You’ll need to be in 4G coverage for Portable WiFi to work.
  • It can take up to 3 hours for your data to renew from midnight on the 1st of every month — this is due to the large number of connections that need to get processed through the system.
  • Standard Wireless Nation terms and conditions apply.

What Our Customers Think

Brilliant product, easy set-up and provided a home wireless service where every other provider was insisting on a Fibre connection that was going to take months to organise. Highly recommend Wireless Nation.
Debbie Emmerson
Have recently joined wireless nation for our Internet. Customer service is great. Very easy to contact and helpful. $30 cheaper a month than our existing provider. So far so good 👍
Malcolm wanganui@jae.co.nz
Great idea for people with more than one home. No need to have to pay for Internet when you are not there or if you're staying somewhere without it. We use it in Whanganui and Ohakune. No problem.

Great service Well worth it

Wireless Nation is a specialist provider and tends to attract an older audience. This is well catered for by excellent plain-English explanations, both on their website and in person.
I needed to resolve a problem with Zoom bandwidth that also affected streaming. This was resolved by suggesting, but not overselling, new equipment that gave an excellent result. I felt I understood exactly what I needed to upgrade, and why.
In addition, I have attended presentations by WN at motorhome rallies. Though the presenters were much younger than the audience, this was not an issue; the presentation was well-paced and informative and questions were dealt with fully and respectfully. I wish other providers did the same!
Judy Wilson
Wifi was cutting out in the caravan and I sent a request which was reset within half an hour and a phone call explaining what to do. Service was amazing. Highly recommend
Neville Smith
So convenient when traveling not having to “hot spot” to TV, tablet, PC and other phones. Good coverage in most places.
Cliff Heydon
Great company to deal with. Any issues and you get to talk to an actual human being without being on hold for 3 hours.
Ryder- Jones
Brilliant service. We had a slow connection so they looked into it, followed up a couple of days later and sent us a new modem to try that used a different network, complete with prepaid package to return our old one if the new one works out with better speeds. All organised after 7pm. Can't ask for better than that. There service is amazing.
Bret Bestic

Alistair Richardson
I've been very impressed with Wireless nation since we switched to them from another provider. We use the wireless broadband modem at home and when we go travelling within NZ, we take it with us and have constant and reliable internet reception. All at a very reasonable price for 300Gb monthly.
Joye Halford
Great service. Great people to work with. Staff bend over backwards to assist if I have a query.

Wireless Nation — Where Should I Start?

If I could write a book, it would be the number one bestseller about your service. But here’s the nutshell of my experience:

I’ve been with Wireless Nation for just over a month now, and I must say I’ve never come across a company that not only provides a reliable internet connection but also offers outstanding customer service.

What really stands out is that most companies outsource their customer service offshore to cut costs, but knowing that Wireless Nation is based in Takapuna, Auckland, really motivates me to support a local business.

Some people might find the prices slightly higher than the big telcos, especially when it comes to purchasing your own modem for wireless use. But honestly, it’s worth it! The modem’s portability is a game-changer — you can take it with you on long drives or use it wherever you go. That kind of flexibility makes the cost completely justifiable.

As a parent, one of the biggest advantages is the ability to turn off the modem or take it with me to work when my son gets carried away with gaming. That level of control is a huge benefit for me. Plus, the modem comes with built-in security controls through a simple app, allowing you to monitor all internet activity — a major win for parents!

As a Pacific Islander, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Wireless Nation to my Pacific community. It’s not just about great connectivity — it’s about having control, security, and supporting a local business.

Looking forward to seeing more exciting plans from Wireless Nation in the future!

GOD BLESS !
