Knowledge Base

Although they have similar names, ADSL and VDSL are very different. The first point of difference is speed and price, VDSL is significantly faster and slightly more expensive than ADSL. Voice over IP (VoIP) phone works better on VDSL due to much higher bandwidth for upstream and can support HDTV while ADSL struggles.

VDSL suffers from attenuation much quicker compared to ADSL. Depending on how far away your home or business is from the DSLAM located in the telephone exchange will determine whether VDSL or ADSL is a better fit; VDSL tends to become slower the further away you are from the telephone exchange.

VDSL is not as widespread as ADSL.
